VENUE: Dungowan 

DATE: Sunday the 26th of June 2016.

TIME: 10am ride out. Sharp!! As we have to be at the pub in time for lunch by 1.30pm. Please arrive early so any paperwork can be completed, particularly any visiting riders. A club executive member is usually at the ride location by 9am. 

THINGS TO CONSIDER: This is a ride that starts at the Dungowan Showground, then we head along the Back Woolomin Rd for approximately 4kms, and then go into a beautiful private property and ride through the hills. We head back out onto the Back Woolomin Rd and return to the showground. Lunch has been organised at the Dungowan Pub for those who wish to partake. I have done this ride twice and both times got wet! So if the weather looks dodgy, bring a coat!! 
The road surface consists of a firm dirt road and would be suitable for unshod horses. However on the second ride TRC was in the process of resurfacing the road, so not sure what it will be like on the ride day, but there is mostly ample room on the road shoulder to walk along. It is anticipated that there will be light traffic on the road, and we may encounter the odd heavy vehicle. Early on in the ride there is a paddock with a few large pigs in it. My horse walked past with not too much of an issue. Once on the private property there are beautiful views and the terrain is mostly soft underfoot. The hills are moderate and we have rated this ride a 3.5 out of 5. We will be having a short morning tea (15 mins) at the top of one of the hills, so bring a halter if you want to tie up. There are plenty of trees for ‘personal stops’. This is a working cattle property, so please be respectful of the cattle. We then head out of the property and back along the Back Woolomin rd. Arrangements have been made to secure the horses at the Dungowan Showground whilst we head to the Dungowan Pub for lunch. This is a short walk from the showground. There are a small amount of yards, or you can tie your horse to your float. There is a cattle grid into the showground. Please bring your horse a drink of water and some hay for after the ride if you like.

DIRECTIONS: From Tamworth head out through Nemingah and turn right at the Nemingah Pub and head towards Nundle. Drive along for approx. 24 kilometres and turn right at the Dungowan Pub. The turn is immediately before the pub. Travel along this road for a kilometre or so, go around a left hand bend and you will see the showground on your left hand side. Drive across the cattle grid and there is plenty of parking in the showground.
