    Trail Boss Accreditation Course Notice
    Weekend of May 14-15th, 2016

    NEW COURSE APPLICATIONS CAN STILL BE TAKEN UNTIL THIS THURSDAY 12/5 IF YOU ARE INTERESTED - MUST BE A CURRENT ATHRA MEMBER. Please contact Jodi on the details below.

    DETAILS:
    • Arrive no later than 8.30am at the Pinnacles Equestrian Centre on Saturday morning to ensure we get off to a punctual start please.
    • Course times – 9.00am pm to 5pm Saturday and 8.30am - approx 2pm Sunday . Catering during the course is provided free. Campers are required to provide their own tea/dinner and breakfast.
    • Your riding horse is required on both days, overnight horse accommodation is available
    • All riders/visitors/volunteers are to sign ‘Attendance Register’ BEFORE the course commences.

    DIRECTIONS:
    • This course will be conducted at the Pinnacles Equestrian Centre located at 420 Round Mountain Rd, Pinnacles.
    • Camping and horse accommodation is available Saturday night for a donation
    • No stallions or dogs are permitted.

    COST:
    FREE for current ATHRA members, please bring your membership card.

    CAMPING:
    The camping facilities available by donation to Pinnacles are:
    • power available
    • grassed tent area
    • showers and toilets
    • fridge
    • electric stove, toaster, microwave
    • 4m x 8m stables or shared paddocks for horses with auto waterers.
    Trail Blazers will provide all catering during the course but tea/dinner and breakfast will be for campers to self cater.

    WATER & HORSE FEED:
    Drinking water is available or can be purchased. Horse water is also available, bring your own buckets please. Bring all your own horse feed and buckets.

    TERRAIN, DISTANCE AND DEGREE OF DIFFICULTY:
    Practical riding assessment will be conducted in a fenced arena, the simulated trail ride will most likely be in the surrounding area classed as easy.

    ATHRA:
    This ride is sanctioned by ATHRA and all riders are bound by the Rules & Regulations of the Club and the ATHRA Code of Conduct.
    * It is recommended that riders wear full length trousers, sleeved shirt and sunscreen.
    * Riders must wear suitable smooth soled riding footwear (no chunky soles are permitted).
    * It is the responsibility of the rider of each horse to ensure that all riding equipment is regularly checked, well maintained and correctly fitted. The minimum equipment required is a saddle with stirrups and girth and appropriate head gear (bridle). The use of halters is only permitted where both horse and rider have demonstrated effective control.
    * Ribbons in horse tails: Green for young horse or rider, Red for horse that kicks or is prone to kick.

    BIOSECURITY ALERT:
    In order to minimise risk to other persons, their horses, and the livelihood of the property owners, it is essential that horses showing any signs of possible infectious diseases; in particular Hendra infection, do not attend any trail ride/event. The Trail Boss has the authority to turn away any horse which is considered suspect. Horses should also have their own feed/water containers.
