  • Description

The Toowoomba Trail Riding Club is a very active, family friendly club formed on the Darling Downs in 2002 and is affiliated with ATHRA (Australian Trail Horse Riding Association).   All levels of rider and all breeds of horses are welcome.  The club holds monthly trail rides, some through private property, and some along quiet country roads as well as days on more challenging terrain for those spirited adventurers.

All rides are graded from 1 to 5, so one knows what to expect.  Sometimes we take a saddlebag lunch and sometimes we ride to a venue where lunch can be purchased such as a country pub.

In addition to this the club also has a performing team called “The Outback Riders” – flag bearing formation riders and their horses that perform to music at shows and other events in and around Toowoomba as well as further afield.  The team also participates in arena productions and has its own production of “The Man From Snowy River” which has been performed at various shows as well as an ANZAC tribute show.

The Toowoomba Trail Ride Club has also been involved in providing horses and riders for major arena productions for the annual Toowoomba Show including the Salute to the Outback, The Waltzing Matilda Story, Ned Kelly – The Siege at Glenrowan, Phar Lap, The Man From Snowy River, Anzacs Under A Rising Sun.  We also do street parades such as that for the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers and Warwick Rodeo Parade and Grand Parades for country shows.

All members are welcome to join the Outback Riders performing team – there is no extra cost.  You do need your own horse or consistent access to a horse and your own transport to get you and your horse to weekly practices.  We usually practice for about 6 weeks before a show.  All levels of rider and horse are welcome and we find a part for everyone who is keen to be part of this unique group.  We also welcome volunteers for ground crew.  We have a lot of fun and its great training for the horses.  If you would like to come to the next practice and try it, keep your eye on the Club Facebook page for details or contact Konrad on 0408 495 762.

  • History

The Toowoomba Trail Ride Club Inc was formed in 2002 by a group of like minded individuals. In the first instance the club was formed to be the host club of a major equine event held annually.  The club's main role was to host a charity ride in aid of the Riding for Disabled which was a great success. The club has a solid membership of all ages and abilities. The TTRC is well known as a keen community supporter benefiting the Royal Agricultural Society of Queensland, Riding for Disabled and other beneficiaries when called upon. As a result of this association the RASQ Show Committee in 2003 asked the TTRC to form a performing team called "The Outback Riders".
