APEX PARK BOOLARRA

Apex Park Boolarra   24th August 2014

The morning started out with steady rain, which may have put some people off, not us. Some heroes saved a hapless motorist by pushing him out of the slippery car park.

The ride started out in light rain which soon cleared to be a perfect day for riding. Riders headed up a little road that circled the valley, climbing up a range overlooking the Eastern branch of the Morwell River.

You could see across to the trees with wispy mountain mist clinging in patches. Spectacular views from all points of this track made you appreciate the height we were up and the gentle climb to the top. The horses managed very easily and the decent was just as gentle.

The bush varied from pines to tall stands of gums and heavy undergrowth dropping into the river crossing at the bottom of the valley.

After following the road for a while and spotting an Owls nest clinging to the bank, the ride branched into a stand of mature pines eerily covered in moss.

The gullies through here had tall tree ferns; this section went through some felled pine forest and down onto the road past a lovely swimming hole to the floats where the billy was boiling and lunch was ready.

Thanks to our cooks Jill, Vicki and Jo. Also Thanks Jill for the YUMMY sponge cake.

This lovely ride was lead by Di  Sharman.
